World Two is the world of my imagination, most particularly the world of writing.
The first book I ever wrote was called "The day the sun turned pink". I remember it was written on red paper at my grandparents farm, and that I was in Grade 1. I don't know what happened to it, but I remember what it was about. It was about a castle where if you went there you could make one wish, and there was a girl who wished for the sun to turn pink. It turns out the world doesn't work when the sun is pink (I can't remember what the specific results were but it was catastrophic in the least), and so the heroine of the story gave up her one wish to turn it back.
The second story I ever wrote was "Hopy the Rabbit who liked to Skip". I still have a copy of it, beautifully illustrated by my little sister.
I have spent my whole life making up stories, plots and characters. In a world like this one, we all need an escape sometimes- and I feel blessed that I can escape not only into other people's worlds (through reading and media) but into worlds of my own creation and choosing. Reading books is like looking at pictures of someone Else's holiday, writing a novel is traveling yourself
One day I would love to get published. At the moment I am working on a fantasy novel called "The Librex". The picture above is of Milford Sound in NZ. I saw a painting of it at the NSWs Gallery many years ago and it inspired several scene's in my story. Two years ago I got to see it in person and this is the photo I took. It was just as breath-taking as I imagined, like finding myself within the very story I had written.
World Two is writing. This blog with be a chance to reflect on and record the journey of bringing the world in my mind into the real world.
